Half the Field Is Dark? Check the Light Path.

A quick reference for a black edge or dark crescent in the view.

Tim Pellerin · Sky Optical Services

A black edge, a dark crescent on one side, or a dark ring around the view looks alarming, but it is rarely a broken microscope. Something in the light path is simply out of place. Work through these four checks from the top down, and most of the time the full field comes back in under a minute.
